In general, average monthly benefits would top $500 in 29 states, with largest cuts impacting retirees in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Utah and Washington.

Barring action from Congress, millions of Americans who depend on Social Security could see their benefits cut by as much as 24% in 2032. The deep cuts would average about $500 a month, but, according to a recent analysis, the impacts would vary by state.
