SWOCC Release - Coos Bay, OR – The Southwestern Oregon Community College Foundation is proud to congratulate nearly 200 students who have been awarded scholarships for the 2026–27 academic year. Thanks to the generosity of community donors, the Foundation will award more than $380,000 in scholarships, helping students pursue their educational and career goals at Southwestern. These scholarships are made possible through permanent endowments and annual scholarship funds established by donors, and the incredible community support shown at the Foundation's signature scholarship fundraising events, Uncorking Opportunity! and the SWOCC Foundation Classic at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. This year, donor generosity has also expanded scholarship opportunities for students pursuing careers in Diesel Mechanic Technology, Marine Biology, and Agroecology. On top of this, new funding will support forestry internships, providing students with hands-on learning experiences in Southwestern's 44-acre forest and community trails on its Coos Campus. For more than 60 years, the Southwestern Foundation, guided by a volunteer board of community members, has helped thousands of Southwestern students overcome financial barriers through scholarships. These scholarships ultimately help students pursue career training and education land solid careers and financial stability in their futures.
