The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement at 2:50 a.m. on Tuesday in effect until 9 a.m. for Lower Columbia Basin of Oregon and Foothills of the Northern Blue Mountains of Oregon.

"Patchy dense fog with the visibility less than one quarter mile will continue over the Blue Mountain Foothills and the Lower Columbia Basin this morning. Temperatures are near to below freezing, and icy spots will be obseved due to freezing fog. Avoid cruise control and allow plenty of space between vehicles," according to the weather service.

Early this morning around 7:30 a.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at NE Evergreen Parkway and NE Century Blvd. The investigation showed one driver fell asleep at the wheel and drifted out of their lane, striking a speed radar trailer. The impact caused the vehicle to spin into oncoming traffic, leading to a secondary collision. Thankfully, there were no major injuries. One driver was transported to a local hospital as a precaution and is expected to be okay. Both vehicles and the damaged trailer were towed from the scene.
