Multnomah County Library has selected “Lovely One: A Memoir” by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson as the 2026 Everybody Reads book. The initiative marks the 24th year of Everybody Reads, the library’s communitywide reading project that uses literature to spark dialogue and bring Portlanders together for discussion.

Congrats to our TIP award winners! On Saturday, August 16th, several Lane County Sheriff’s deputies received “Heroes with Heart” awards at the 2025 fundraiser for Trauma Intervention Program of Lane County (TIP). Several other first responders were recognized as well, all for their work on especially traumatic incidents they responded to. TIP volunteers nominated them for the awards. The deputies recognized (from left to right): - Deputy Brooks - Deputy Bastinelli - Deputy Biehler - Deputy Grotefend TIP of Lane County started in 2023 to serve the Eugene and Springfield areas. TIP provides immediate emotional first aid and practical support to survivors of tragedy, in coordination with deputies, police officers, and emergency medical services. Their dedicated volunteers bridge the gap – often at the scene of a traumatic incident – until survivors can rely on their own support systems.
