Description

Portland police say they are looking for this suspect in the shooting of two officers near Lloyd Center on Jan. 19, 2026.

A person suspected of shooting and injuring two police officers near Lloyd Center last week has been arrested, the Portland Police Bureau reported Monday morning.

At around 7 a.m., the suspected shooter was arrested without incident in the 6400 block of Northeast 82nd Avenue, the bureau said, and taken to the bureau’s Central Precinct for questioning.

The Portland Police Homicide Unit is leading the investigation because deadly force was used against officers. The police bureau said the suspected shooter will likely face charges of attempted murder.

The suspected shooter’s identity was not included in the bureau’s press release. That information and more details are expected to be released by the police later on Monday.

Police previously described the suspect as a white man in his mid-30s with facial hair, wearing a black baseball cap, a black jacket over a gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black shoes. At the time of the shooting last week, police said the suspect was armed with a knife and a handgun and was seen carrying a black backpack and a green shopping bag.

Around 8:21 p.m. last Monday, Jan. 19, a 911 caller reported they were threatened with a knife by an unknown man near Northeast 21st Avenue and Clackamas Street. Police from the North Precinct found the suspect on Clackamas Street between 16th and 17th avenues.

Bureau officials initially couldn’t provide details of the interaction, but said the man opened fire. No officers returned fire, according to Portland Police Deputy Chief Chris Gjovik. The encounter was recorded on the officers’ body-worn cameras, but that footage has not yet been released.

As of Tuesday afternoon, one of the officers had been released from the hospital, according to police. Both officers are expected to survive their injuries.

The bureau did not specify which hospital the officers were treated at, nor did they release the injured officers’ identities.
