Southwestern Oregon’s baseball team split their final four regular season games with visiting Chemeketa to earn fourth place in the South Conference of the NWAC and a spot in the upcoming playoffs. On Friday, The Lakers swept the Storm, 3-2 & 8-2. But, on Saturday, Chemeketa returned the favor with two wins, 6-5 & 10-3. Linn-Benton wins the South (26-10, 30-10-1), Umpqua is second (21-15, 24-22), Chemeketa third (19-17, 27-20) and SWOCC fourth (19-17, 24-22). Southwestern will play Edmonds in the NWAC Baseball Super Regionals on May 16, Tacoma, WA. SWOCC’s softball team finished second (23-7, 37-9) in the South Conference to unbeaten Lower Columbia (30-0, 43-0). Lakers ended the regular season Friday, with a sweep at Oregon City over Clackamas, 7-5 (8) & 23-20). The NWAC Softball Championships are set for May 15-18, Delta Park – Owens Sports Complex, Portland.
