Southwestern Oregon’s softball team was eliminated from the NWAC Championship Tournament, Friday, at Portland’s Delta Park. The Lakers lost their first game in the opening round Thursday to Centralia, 5-3. That put SWOCC in the Consolation Bracket where they beat Yakima Valley, 7-0. On Friday, Southwestern downed Mt. Hood, 4-2 to earn a single-elimination game with Columbia Basin, but SWOCC (39-11) fell 2-1 to end their season. The Laker baseball team (24-23) was eliminated from the NWAC West Super Regionals by Edmonds, 5-0, at Tacoma WA. Umpqua, of Roseburg, won the South Super Regional Championship by taking a three-game series from Clark College, 2-1, at Roseburg. Southwestern Oregon’s track & field team competes in the NWAC Championships at Mt. Hood, Gresham, Monday & Tuesday, May 19 & 20.
