Southwestern Oregon’s Lydia Montes De Oca won the NWAC Cross-Country South Region at Springfield Saturday. The freshman ran the 6K course at the Pine Ridge Golf Club in 22:33.79. Teammates Taylor Dickey was third (22:42.59), Vianey Toledo was fifth (23:24.78) and Bella Fortino sixth (23:55.09). The Lakers won the South Region Championship with 26-points. Lane was second with 76. In the men’s 8K race, Southwestern’s Emmanuel Salinas was second (26:34.40), and Brody Michael took fifth (26:49.24). Jose Zelaya came in 11th (27:33.94). Lane won with 21-points, SWOCC was second with 45. The NWAC Championships will be held Nov. 10, Spokane, WA.
