Description
The final King Tides of the season, the highest tide sequences of the winter on the Oregon Coast, will arrive January 1 through 4, 2026. It is important to remember that King Tides are not the same as High Surf Events:
King Tides are predictable and bring exceptionally high water levels that may cause minor flooding and offer a preview of how rising sea levels could shape our coastal communities in the future.
High Surf Events are generated by storm energy far out at sea, making them less predictable. High surf creates the dramatic waves that many visitors hope to see at Shore Acres State Park.
Both are remarkable to witness, but they also create extremely hazardous conditions if you are not careful.
⚠️ Watch from designated viewing areas such as Shore Acres State Park, Cape Arago, and the bluff overlooking Bastendorf Beach
⚠️ Stay off beaches, jetties, and logs
⚠️ Never turn your back on the ocean
⚠️ Do not underestimate the power of the surf
