Coos Bay-North Bend Water Board News Release During the week beginning May 6, 2024, the Coos Bay-North Bend Water Board crews will continue routine maintenance flushing of water lines within its distribution system in Coos Bay (Charleston area). Flushing of water lines will be from Tarheel Lane south to Walker Lane. Flushing will begin in the morning each day about 7:30 a.m. and end at approximately 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. In some locations flushing may begin earlier in the morning and end earlier in the afternoon. Customers within the affected areas may experience periods of reduced pressure and may notice a discoloration of the water during these flushing periods. Customers should avoid doing laundry if their water appears discolored. If the discoloration does not clear up promptly, please notify the Water Board at (541) 267-3128.

Male Arrested After Assaulting Rideshare Driver and Stealing Vehicle Arrested: Buck, Joshua Davis 21-year-old male, transient, Bend Victim: Collins, Stanley Eugene 77-year-old male, Redmond Charges: ORS 164.415 Robbery in the First Degree, ORS Assault in the Second Degree, 164.135 Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle On May 3rd, 2024, at 2:48 am the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a report of an assault and theft of a vehicle in Sisters, OR. Deschutes County 911 Dispatch advised a male subject had assaulted a ride share driver and subsequently stole the vehicle. During the course of the investigation, it was determined Joshua Buck was at the Deschutes County Stabilization Center and had requested a ride share service to Sisters. Once in Sisters Buck asked to be dropped off in the vicinity of the Sisters Inn and Suites. When the vehicle came to a stop, the driver, Stanley Collins, was assaulted and dragged out of the vehicle by Buck. Buck then stole the ride share vehicle and proceeded west on Highway 20 towards the Santiam Pass. Deputies were able to determine the location of the stolen vehicle that was being operated by Buck as it continued westbound on Highway 126 towards Vida, Oregon. Deschutes County 911 Dispatch notified Law Enforcement agencies in the areas the stolen vehicle was travelling. At 4:00 am, Deschutes County 911 was advised Lane County Sheriff’s Office and Springfield Police Department was enroute to a multi-vehicle injury crash near Vida, Oregon. Lane County Sheriff’s Office contacted Buck at the crash in Vida, where he was actively attempting to steal a second vehicle from the crash scene. The driver of that vehicle was able to speed away, striking Buck in the process. Buck was arrested and transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment for his injuries. Buck has subsequently been transported to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Adult Jail and lodged on the aforementioned charges.
