The 1879 Mark Prairie Schoolhouse in Canby has been restored. Restored 1879 Mark Prairie Schoolhouse classroom looking southeast. The recreated 1950s vintage kitchen has , salvaged lights from Hippo Hardware & Trading Co., reproduction windows by Stayton Wood Windows. Mark Road in Canby. The Mark Prairie Schoolhouse's 4-H charter is among many certificates preserved. The Marks Prairie Community Club hosted 4-H meetings and other activities in the 1950s. The Mark Prairie Schoolhouse in 2020, before it was crushed by the February 2021 ice storm.

The one-room Mark Prairie Schoolhouse, built 146 years ago south of Clackamas County’s city of Canby, had already suffered from weather, wear and tear. Then oak trees crashed through the roof during the February 2021 ice storm, and most people were ready to allow the modest clapboard structure — and its touchable history — to go away.
