Description
The Landing Pad is a 12-bed facility that provides transitional housing and access to services for adults in custody leaving Clark County Jail. Anna Lookingbill, the jail programs manager at Clark County Jail Services, says the voluntary program is aimed at people with behavioral health needs to prevent releasing them into homelessness.
The Columbian previously reported on the Landing Pad, which opened in August and is staffed 24/7 by peer mentors from the Coastal Community Action Program. They have lived experience with incarceration and provide transportation from the jail to the Vancouver facility and help connect new arrivals with services they might need, including permanent housing and substance use treatment.
Jennifer Sumait is the reentry program manager with the Coastal Community Action Program. She and Lookingbill join us for more details about the Landing Pad and the impact it’s having.
“Think Out Loud®” broadcasts live at noon every day and rebroadcasts at 8 p.m.
