Description

Emergency responders at the scene of a shooting incident in Sandy, Ore., May 31, 2026.

The man arrested in a fatal shooting and standoff in Sandy late Sunday is accused of killing his wife and two other people as well as kidnapping his 3-year-old child and one other person, according to charging documents filed Monday by the Clackamas County district attorney’s office.

According to the court records, 38-year-old Bryan Moore killed Jenna Mary Overson, Mary Beth Overson and one other person.

Jenna Mary Overson was married to Moore. According to witnesses who spoke with OPB Sunday evening, the third person was a teenager who happened to be near the shooting, which began as a domestic violence incident. OPB is not naming the third victim because they are a minor.

Moore is charged with the murder of all three individuals. His initial court appearance is set for 2 p.m. Monday. Court records list Clackamas County Indigent Defense as his attorney.

Prosecutors also accuse Moore of kidnapping two people, one of whom is the 3-year-old child of Moore and Jenna Mary Overson, according to court records. It’s unclear if the other person kidnapped has any relation to Moore.

Moore also faces aggravated attempted murder and assault with a firearm charges for shooting Sandy police officer Garrett Thornton. Thornton is expected to survive after being airlifted to a Portland hospital, Sandy Police Chief Patrick Huskey said late Sunday.

Sunday’s shooting led to a neighborhood lockdown around Evans Street in Sandy for several hours Sunday afternoon and evening. Law enforcement from across the region descended on a duplex on Evans Street, blocking off surrounding roads for the hourslong standoff.

Moore eventually surrendered himself to officers around 8 p.m.

Sunday’s incident is still under investigation.

“This remains a very dynamic and active investigation,” Huskey said at a press conference Sunday night.

This is a developing story and may be updated.
