The suspect in the killings of five people at a home near Forest Grove killed his partner, his partner’s mother and grandmother and two others before killing himself the next day in Washington state, authorities said Monday.

Investigators identified three generations of women: Mary Elizabeth Kimsey, 85; her daughter, Rowan Karla Kimsey, 60; and granddaughter Stella Jade Kimsey, 26.

Two others were found at the scene: Linsey Mae Haraldsen, 26; and her 27-year-old partner Alvin Raymond Chu. Haraldsen was Stella Kimsey’s best friend, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office also revealed Monday that the prime suspect in the case — Benjamin Parker, 36, whose body was discovered in Enumclaw, Wash., on Sunday — was Stella Kimsey’s boyfriend.

Two cats and two dogs also died at the scene. Responders discovered a third cat that was injured and was later euthanized “due to the extent of its injuries,” the sheriff’s office said.

The news comes a day after investigators said Parker was found dead. Authorities said he died by suicide.

Investigators have not detailed any theories about what may have motivated Parker. The sheriff’s office said it planned to release more information Tuesday.

The Forest Grove Fire Department first discovered human remains while responding to a fire on the rural property around 5 a.m. Saturday. After the discovery, they called local law enforcement for backup.

Neighbor Paul Caprioli, who rents a place kitty-corner from the Kimsey’s plot, said it’s an area of town where neighbors collect others’ mail if necessary, or drive each other to the emergency room.

“It’s not forced or fake in any way,” he said. “People genuinely care about each other.”

Caprioli wasn’t close to the Kimseys, though they had a good reputation among other neighbors, he told OPB. He recalled hearing the dogs’ barks every day, which are now notably absent.
