Visitors can see Wizard Island and Crater Lake from Rim Village and outlooks off of Rim Drive.Boat passengers on Sept. 9 enjoyed the views from Wizard Island, a 763-foot cinder cone in Crater Lake.A boat passenger jumped into Crater Lake from Wizard Island on Sept. 9, 2025.Jeremy Tran of San Jose and his siblings were passengers on the Wizard Island boat tour.Until Sept. 15, 2025, people are able to access the Crater Lake shore and boat dock after walking down the Cleetwood Cove Trail, a steep, one-mile trail that drops 700 feet to the lake.The Cleetwood Marina will be closed until about 2029 for renovation.A boat trip takes passengers around the Phantom Ship small island near Crater Lake's south shore.The natural, eroded rock formation called Pumice Castle, which resembles an orange and pink  medieval castle, is a geological feature formed by volcanic activity and subsequent erosion at Crater Lake National Park.The Old Man of the Lake is a 30-foot-tall tree trunk, most likely a hemlock, that has been bobbing vertically in Crater Lake since at least 1896.Boat passengers touring Crater Lake can see views of waterfalls cascading down the caldera walls near the shoreline. Tourist Jeremy Tran almost missed one of the last boat rides on Crater Lake before the marina closes until 2029. On Tuesday, Tran fell behind as his four siblings raced down a steep trail to reach the boat in time for its 9:45 a.m. departure.
