This morning, a community member saw open doors at a business on SE TV Hwy and called police to check it out. That call led Hillsboro Police to interrupt a burglary in progress at 6101 SE TV Hwy. One suspect, Hunter David Henry Belch, 26, barricaded himself inside and refused commands. A Hillsboro Police K9 team safely located and took him into custody. Belch was wanted for burglary and theft, and was charged with criminal trespass. A second suspect, Edgar Agustin Perez, 37, was found by a police officer hiding in a shelled-out rooftop air conditioning unit. Perez had accessed the roof from inside the building. Drone teams from Hillsboro Police and Washington County assisted with the coordinated search. Hillsboro Fire used a ladder truck to bring Perez down safely. He was wanted for a parole violation related to sexual assault and was charged with criminal trespass and failure to register as a sex offender. This was a calm, coordinated response involving Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Beaverton Police, Hillsboro Fire, and our K9 and drone teams. We have the tools and training to resolve high-risk situations safely.
