Description

A tick crawls on the white canvas flag used by Levi Zahn, Multnomah County’s vector control and code enforcement program supervisor, during a tick flagging survey at Powell Butte Nature Park in Portland on Thursday, June 25, 2026. It was the only tick found during Thursday’s outing.

Sporadically throughout the spring and summer, Multnomah County employees bring a white canvas into Portland-area parkland — not to channel their inner Bob Ross, but to catch a tick or two.
