On Thursday at 11:53 p.m. a special weather statement was issued by the National Weather Service until Friday at 6 a.m. for North Central Oregon and Central Oregon.
"Pockets of freezing fog are being observed via webcams between Shaniko and north of Redmond on US 97. Visibilities as low as one quarter mile or less in freezing fog is expected to persist until the early morning hours, leading to the potential for slick roadways - especially across bridges and overpasses. If you encounter dense fog, slow down, use low beam headlights, and allow for extra space between your vehicle and those around you," comments the weather service.
