Portland police officers periodically intervene outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement building in South Portland on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, to keep roadways clear for traffic during an evening protest that capped a day of demonstrations across the city.

Lawyers for the man and woman shot Thursday by a U.S Border Patrol officer in Southeast Portland accused the government of trying to justify dangerous conduct of its agents by blaming the people wounded.
