Description

One person is in the hospital after a wrong-way driver raced away from police in downtown Portland and ultimately crashed into the Willamette River, the Police Bureau said.

Officers spotted a driver going the wrong way on downtown streets “at a high rate of speed” just after 2 a.m. Monday, police reported. The driver sped away when police attempted a traffic stop, driving into Waterfront Park and then crashing into the river.
