Oregon’s privacy laws give residents new rights to see, delete and opt out of the sale of their personal data — including through a new universal opt-out tool — but the system still requires consumers to take active steps and doesn’t apply to government agencies.

Oregon allows consumers to opt out when companies collect and sell personal details gained in online transactions or simply when people log on to a website or use an app.
