Summit High School teacher Sarah Warsaw teaches a social studies class. Her school district is one of many across Oregon adopting a standards-based grading system.

School districts across the state, including Portland, Bend-La Pine, Beaverton and Hillsboro, are phasing out the traditional A through F grading system in favor of standards-based grading, which district officials say will minimize bias and encourage student growth.
