Driver dies after two-vehicle crash near Eugene
On December 15th at 4 p.m., Lane County Sheriff’s deputies responded with medical personnel to a two-vehicle crash on E. 30th Avenue near Gonyea Road, east of Eugene. The driver of one vehicle was non-responsive.
Before emergency responders arrived, bystanders broke a window on the vehicle and pulled the driver out to attempt life-saving measures, including CPR. The driver was transported to an area hospital, but later died. The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured, and a passenger sustained minor injuries.
The deceased driver was identified as David Tetukevich, 70, of Springfield. Initial investigation shows the deceased driver may have suffered a medical event, leading to the crash.
Thanks to the bystanders who took decisive action and attempted life-saving measures. Although not the outcome hoped for, it's encouraging to see residents of our county step up to help each other.
