Cold Case Murder Investigation ResolutionToday, in partnership with the Hillsboro Police Department, justice was delivered to Elizabeth Wasson and her loved ones. Ms. Wasson was 82-years-old when she was murdered in her Hillsboro home in 1992. Despite extensive investigative efforts at the time, her murder went unsolved. In 2023, Hillsboro Police Detective Megan Townsend reexamined the case and submitted physical evidence collected at the murder scene to the Oregon State Police Forensic Laboratory for additional testing. Those items forensically linked infamous serial killer Cesar Barone to the murder of Mrs. Wasson. Barone was convicted of the murders of four other women in 1995 and sentenced to death.
