COOS BAY POLICE DEPARTMENT WELCOMES OFFICER AARON HUTCHINS

On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, Aaron Hutchins was sworn in as a police officer with the Coos Bay Police Department. Numerous friends and family members, along with members of the Coos Bay Police Department and City staff, were in attendance for the ceremony.

Aaron Hutchins is a Coos Bay native. He was born in Eugene, Oregon, and moved to Coos Bay with his family at a young age. He grew up in the community and attended Marshfield High School, where he participated in football, swimming, and track. Aaron served as captain on all three teams and helped lead them to state championships in each sport. During his senior year, he was elected ASB Vice President and graduated as valedictorian.

After high school, Aaron set sights on a career in law enforcement with the City of Coos Bay. Because he was not yet eligible to apply, he attended Western Oregon University, where he graduated early, completing his degree in just three years—with a Bachelor of Science in Business. He then returned to the area and continued pursuing his law enforcement career while working as a sales representative at Englund Marine.

Today, Aaron continues to put down roots in the community alongside his fiancée, fellow Coos Bay native Sydney Trendell, who works as a teacher at Millicoma Middle School.

Following the swearing-in ceremony, administered by Captain Thomas Lindahl, Sydney Trendell pinned Aaron’s badge on his uniform.

Please join us in welcoming Officer Aaron Hutchins to the Coos Bay Police Department family.
