Description
City of North Bend release - Coos Bay Cub Scouts Pack 9 joined us at last Tuesday’s City Council meeting and helped open the evening by leading the Pledge of Allegiance. The Scouts also had the opportunity to observe community recognitions from the North Bend Fire Department and North Bend Police Department—an up-close look at the teamwork and public service that help keep our community safe. Youth programs like Cub Scouting can be a positive on-ramp to civic engagement. Participating in a public meeting helps young people understand how local government works, practice respect and courtesy in a formal setting, and see how community needs are addressed through service, planning, and collaboration. Cub Scouting is also designed to be active and hands-on. Scouts work toward age-appropriate badges by learning practical skills, trying new activities, and completing service projects—often alongside their families. These experiences help build confidence, leadership, and a habit of giving back that can carry forward into school, sports, clubs, and future community involvement.
