HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH PROCLAMATION  
  
At its September 16, 2025, meeting, the Coos Bay City Council unanimously approved a proclamation recognizing September 15 – October 15, 2025, as Hispanic Heritage Month.  
  
The proclamation was formally read by Coos Bay Library Assistant Gene Iparraguirre, highlighting the national observance that celebrates the histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.  
  
This year’s theme, “Collective Heritage: Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future,” emphasizes prosperity, power, and progress, recognizing the significant strides Hispanics have made in the economic, political, and social growth of the United States.  
  
Mayor Joe Benetti, on behalf of the City, declared the observance as an opportunity to both celebrate Hispanic heritage and recommit to building healthy, peaceful, safe, and sustainable communities for all.  
  
The Council’s unanimous support reflects Coos Bay’s ongoing commitment to honoring the diverse communities that enrich the fabric of the city and the nation.
