A billboard that says 'Hoot Don't Shoot!' is urging Oregonians to oppose a federal agency’s plan to kill nearly half a million barred owls along the West Coast to save the spotted owls. The billboards are part of a campaign mounted by animal welfare groups.

New billboards featuring two cuddling barred owls are going up around Portland, but their message is anything but warm and fuzzy.
