Joanie is a former Catholic nun, was received into the Episcopal Faith in 2024, a retired teacher and coach who enjoys playing pickleball, watching sports, traveling, fishing, gardening, playing guitar, listening to music, hiking and walking, baking treats and hanging out with family and friends. She is energetic, happy, humorous and loves all people! Filled with joy and hope, she believes Jesus is her best friend. In 1982, she met Sister Carol Tierheimer and they married on August 5, 2020 living 40 profound loving and adventurous years together in and OUT of the convent. Carol died in January 2022. In March of 2023 Joanie published her best selling Amazon Ebook, ‘Nun Better: An Amazing Love Story’ about their struggles and joys as LGBTQ+ and spiritual women. Come hear her speak about her life and loves!
