Description

The Portland City Council meets in public. A bill the Legislature approved overwhelmingly this month would make it easier for members of local governments to talk privately with reporters, constituents and each other about the public's business. Key lawmakers concede that's problematic.

The Legislature put its final stamp of approval on updates to Oregon’s open meetings law Friday. But key lawmakers, including the one who carried the bill on the Senate floor, concede those changes are so flawed that the Legislature will need to fix the bill next year to guarantee public transparency.
