Description
MAN ARRESTED AFTER ASSAULTING OFFICER | On June 28th, shortly before midnight, HPD officers responded to reports of a man who was refusing to leave a Safeway grocery store after being trespassed from the location.
An officer arrived at the location and spoke with the man, telling him he needed to leave the property. The man responded by lunging at and punching the officer. The officer successfully employed his taser, but the man continued to lunge at the officer. Other officers arrived but the man continued to resist arrest. Officers used the WRAP restraint system to safely take the man into custody. The WRAP restraint system is designed to protect custodies and officers by reducing the risk of injury while in custody.
Caden Lowry (32) from Portland was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail on the following charges:
- Criminal Trespass in the second degree
- Assault on a Public Safety Officer
- Resisting Arrest
- Possession of a Controlled Substance - Methamphetamine
- Parole Violation
We are grateful the officer who was assaulted only sustained minor scrapes.
