At its May 19, 2026 meeting, the City of Coos Bay City Council unanimously approved proclamations recognizing National Public Works Week and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week.  
  
The National Public Works Week proclamation honors the dedicated professionals who maintain the city’s essential infrastructure and services, including streets, water, wastewater, storm drainage, sanitation systems, and public facilities. This year’s theme, “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community,” highlights the important role public works employees play in supporting public health, safety, and quality of life.

The EMS Week proclamation recognizes emergency medical professionals, dispatchers, firefighters, hospital staff, and partner agencies who work together to provide lifesaving emergency care.
