MAYOR'S MESSAGE Celebrating the Fathers and Mentors that Strengthen Coos Bay This Sunday, we celebrate Father’s Day and I want to take a moment to honor and recognize the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, father figures, and mentors who have shaped our lives and strengthened the foundation of our community. Fatherhood takes many forms, but at its core, it is about showing up with love, patience, and support. Whether through quiet guidance or steadfast presence, fathers help build strong families and resilient neighborhoods. Their contributions often go unspoken, but Sunday, a collective thanks is extended to these unsung heroes of community. To all the dads who are working hard, coaching youth sports, helping with homework, offering life advice, or simply sharing a laugh around the dinner table—your role matters more than words can express. Your care and dedication help nurture the next generation and make Coos Bay a better place for everyone.
