Englewood Terrace Housing Project Groundbreaking Ceremony

Last week, I had the pleasure of joining community members, project partners, and local leaders for the groundbreaking of the Englewood Terrace Housing Project. It was an exciting milestone for Coos Bay and an important step toward addressing one of our community's greatest needs—housing.

I've often said that housing and economic opportunity go hand in hand. Our hospitals, schools, public safety agencies, local businesses, and other employers all depend on having places for their employees to live. Projects like Englewood Terrace help create those opportunities while strengthening our community for years to come.

I want to thank Compass Communities, LLC, and Darren Nichols for investing in Coos Bay and helping make this project a reality. Englewood Terrace will bring 30 new single-family homes to our community, with construction already underway and the first homes expected to be completed later this year.

During the ceremony, Darren recognized the many organizations and individuals who helped move the project from vision to reality, including local elected officials, community partners, engineers, contractors, utility providers, suppliers, and neighboring residents. Their collaboration is a reminder that meaningful projects like this are only possible when people work together toward a common goal.

Thank you to everyone who played a role in reaching this milestone. I look forward to watching Englewood Terrace take shape and to welcoming its future residents home.
