Description

Sixth graders learn in an Oregon classroom in spring 2026. Oregon schools are required to notify families they can readily opt students out of state testing. As a result, a major national study doesn't provide results or pinpoint excellent districts for Oregon.

Oregon’s aggressive stance on letting students opt out of taking state math and reading tests is harming the state’s ability to learn from high performing districts, national experts say.
