Description

A grocery store in Multnomah County has been identified as a new measles exposure site, according to health authorities.
People who visited Gresham’s WinCo Foods, located on 2511 SE 1st St., on Saturday, March 7 between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. may have been exposed to measles.
Officials with the Oregon Health Authority and Multnomah County’s public health department are urging people who think they might have been exposed to contact their care providers immediately about their risks.
The highly contagious virus can spread through the air after a person with measles coughs or sneezes. Symptoms typically begin seven to 21 days after exposure and can include a fever, cough, runny nose and red eyes.
People can be contagious with the virus for four days before developing a rash, according to OHA. Measles can be dangerous for people with weakened immune systems as well as for children younger than 5, pregnant people and adults other than 20.
So far this year, the state has seen a total of six measles cases across the state.
