George Crandall walks through the Oregon Square Courtyard near the Lloyd Center in 1994. The courtyard is one of the many open spaces in Portland that Crandall designed.

George Crandall, the architect largely responsible for Portland’s iconic Big Pink skyscraper, died Tuesday. He was 88.
