Philomath won the 4A Oregon West Conference boy’s cross-country championship at Philomath Saturday, Nov. 1. The Warriors tallied 45-points to Newport’s 54. Stayton was third with 56. Lio Pausch, of Philomath, was the individual champion on the 5K course (16:06.41). Newport placed second & third with Avery Chandler (16:29.20) and David Albavera (16:35.42). Philomath also won the girl’s team title with 33-points, Stayton second (49), followed by Sweet Home (66) & Newport (83). Philomath’s Cassidy Smart took first-place (18:14.16), with Sweet Home’s McKenzie Miller second (19:19.81) and Newport’s Alexandra Curtis third (19:30.82). The OSAA/OnPoint Community Credit Union 4A State Cross-Country Championships are Saturday, Nov. 8, Lane CC, Eugene.
