Description

The history of the Centennial Mills property and its historic flour mill is a long and sad one. Purchased by the Portland Development Commission (now Proper Portland) in 2000, the years since have seen numerous proposed projects fail while the flour mill continued to deteriorate. The city expended about tens of millions of dollars over those years with nothing to show for it other than a burnt-out hulk of a building threatening the safety of the neighborhood.
