I hope The Oregonian/OregonLive will note the many protests against President Donald Trump’s actions that take place beyond Portland proper. Here in Lake Oswego, we demonstrate from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. every Saturday on Hwy. 43 in downtown. Normally we have 100 plus demonstrators. On a recent Saturday we surged to over 2,000. That is a lot for a town of 39,000.

An important reminder from our Forest Deputy Bruce McGuire: This firework was found on the 500 road along with another smaller firework. Both of these had been used in an area that is dry and have a great potential for a forest fire. This type of behavior in areas like these could be devastating for our community. Please do not take fireworks up into the woods to set them off. Actions like these cause roads into the woods to be gated to keep people from accessing them. In order to keep these roads open for everyone to enjoy the forest, please refrain from this type of activity. Your friendly neighborhood forest Deputy thanks you in advance.
