Scam Leads to Arrest - Case #25-15949
On August 12, just before noon, a community member reported a suspicious encounter in the Lowes parking lot. A man in a white SUV with Florida plates had tried to sell them gold, which they believed was fake.
Officers responded quickly and located the rental vehicle. The driver, 25-year-old Diamant Calin, and a female companion admitted to selling the jewelry. A significant amount of jewelry and cash was found inside the vehicle.
Calin also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of New Jersey.
Given the amount of cash recovered, investigators believe there may be additional victims who unknowingly bought fake gold from the pair.
Thanks to the community member who trusted their instincts and called it in. Your action helped stop others from being taken advantage of.
