This photo, taken in July 2022, shows a distant rock climber on the South West Rib of South Early Winter Spire near Washington Pass.

After three people died in a North Cascades rock climbing accident, a fourth climber walked back to the trailhead, despite internal bleeding and a traumatic brain injury, and drove until he could call 911.
