Saying Good Bye

CCSO release - Friday evening, September 4th 2026 was officially Deputy Sean Starr’s last night as a Criminal Patrol/Dunes Deputy for the Coos County Sheriff’s Office. Sean was hired by the Sheriff’s Office in February 2023. Sean has served our community with distinction, respect and compassion. Please join us in wishing Sean and his family well as they make the move to Washington County. You will be missed!

Perspective

CCSO release - Saturday evening, September 5th 2026 at 7:28 p.m. a Coos County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle for a traffic violation on West Beaver Hill Road near Hemlock Lane. The operator began digging with his hand between his legs, as the deputy approached. The deputy immediately observed the man was trying to either grab or conceal a black firearm. The deputy handled the situation with a calm demeanor and was clear with his orders which ultimately ended without serious incident. The gun was a replica BB gun with no markings/coloring indicating it was not a firearm. A large fixed blade knife was also located near the replica BB gun. As a result of the stop the driver, Jon P. Corby (54) was issued a citation for Driving While Suspended and is being referred to the Coos County D.A.’s Office on the charge of unlawful possession of methamphetamine. “Police action is not indicative of guilt. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”

Pulled Over a Golf Cart on Libby Lane

CCSO release - Barview, OR - On Friday, September 4, 2026, at 3:53 p.m., a Coos County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was near the intersection of Libby Lane and Crown Point Road when he observed a purple and pink golf cart traveling westbound on Libby Lane. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was identified as Rennie Strebendt (72). Rennie stated she was on her way to Charleston; however, the North Coos Dispatch Center advised Rennie had a valid warrant for her arrest out of Florence, Oregon. Rennie Strebendt (72) was transported to the Coos County Jail on the outstanding warrant. “Police action is not indicative of guilt. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”
