Description
TOW TRUCK CRASHES THROUGH CONSTRUCTION SITE | On July 21st, HPD officers responded to a crash that occurred in a construction area on NE Brookwood Pkwy. At the time, there were several utility vehicles parked in the roadway while workers completed work in a manhole. Responding officers learned that a flatbed tow truck was traveling at a high rate and swerving as it approached the area. The tow truck drove into the construction area and collided with the rear of a boom truck resulting in major damage to both vehicles. Due to the tow truck’s speed, it continued down the sidewalk, crashing into a light pole and coming to rest approximately 50 feet off the roadway, leaving behind an extensive debris field.
The driver of the tow truck was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Thankfully, no one in the roadway was injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
