For a visitor, seeing the paintings and prints on display in the “James Lavadour: Land of Origin” exhibit can feel almost overwhelming. Lavadour is one of the most acclaimed artists in the Northwest, whose work has been exhibited around the country and internationally, in such venues as The Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian, and the Venice Biennale, and whose achievements include co-founding the Crow’s Shadow Institute of the Arts on the Umatilla Indian Reservation, near Pendleton.
