Description
The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 1:50 a.m. on Tuesday for dense fog until 5 a.m. for Inner Portland Metro.
“Patchy dense fog limiting visibility to one mile or less has developed across western portions of the Portland/Vancouver metro this morning. Eastern portions of the metro including Gresham, Troutdale, Fairview, Camas, and Washougal are less likely to see travel impacts from reduced visibility. Fog may not be uniformly dense and commuters should expect rapid changes in visibility on area roadways. Dense fog is most likely to occur in areas sheltered from winds as well as areas near waterways including lakes and rivers. Locales less sheltered from winds may instead see low overcast skies where only hilltops experience reduced visibility. Drivers should slow down and leave plenty of following distance. Pedestrians and cyclists should wear bright or reflective clothing to increase the chances of being seen by others in poor visibility conditions,” says the weather service.
